Cosmiconfluence – Development, Research, and Practice Framework
Professional Background and the Development of Cosmiconfluence
Cosmiconfluence is a Research, Development and Practice Framework for the description, support, investigation and continuous development of development-related processes.
At the center is the question of how people perceive experiences, process information, reflect, develop orientation, prepare decisions, act, learn from feedback and further develop their capacity for action across different life and application contexts.
Cosmiconfluence connects Development Logic, the Cosmiconfluence Development Model, the Cosmiconfluence Development Method, Programs, Development Spaces, Pilot Projects, research, evaluation and continuous development within a shared system architecture.
It is not a single program, not a single method and not a purely theoretical construct. Cosmiconfluence has emerged from many years of practice, professional experience, systematic observation, reflection and continuous development.
Development and Professional Background
Cosmiconfluence was developed by a Diplom-Psychologist.
The developer completed his psychology degree with a Diplom in 1996. The development of Cosmiconfluence draws on more than 30 years of professional, practical, observational and developmental work with developmental-psychological, educational and family-related questions.
A particular professional focus lies in direct work with children, adolescents and families, as well as in development-oriented support across different life, learning, family and practice contexts.
From this long-term work emerged the observation that development does not arise from knowledge, information or individual measures alone. Developmental processes depend substantially on how people perceive situations, process experiences, interpret feedback, recognize patterns, reflect, gain orientation, prepare decisions, implement actions, use feedback and stabilize new approaches in everyday life.
Cosmiconfluence was developed to make such processes more systematically describable, supportable, observable, evaluable and capable of continuous development.
Why Cosmiconfluence Was Developed
People face complex demands in different areas of life. This includes personal development, family, education, school, professional life, social relationships, digital information environments, organizations and societal change processes.
In many of these areas, the issue is not only to receive information or solve individual problems. Often, it is about perceiving situations in a more differentiated way, better understanding one’s own reactions, recognizing connections, preparing decisions more consciously, using existing resources and remaining capable of action.
Cosmiconfluence was developed to organize such developmental, learning, reflection, orientation and action processes within a shared architecture.
The Framework is intended to help ensure that developmental processes are not viewed in isolation, randomly or only in relation to individual situations, but can be made more understandable, observable and further developable through recurring foundational processes.
What Cosmiconfluence Is
Cosmiconfluence is a Research, Development and Practice Framework.
It connects:
-
a Development Logic,
-
the Cosmiconfluence Development Model,
-
a Cosmiconfluence Development Method,
-
Programs,
-
Development Spaces,
-
methods and instruments,
-
Pilot Projects,
-
research and evaluation structures,
-
and continuous development.
The Framework describes how development-related processes can be understood, practically supported, observed, investigated, evaluated and further developed.
The Cosmiconfluence System refers to the full set of interconnected structures, methods, Programs, Development Spaces, research processes, evaluation formats and continuous development processes through which the Framework is applied and further developed.
Cosmiconfluence is not understood as a therapeutic or diagnostic procedure, but as a development-oriented Research, Development and Practice Architecture.
The Core of the Cosmiconfluence Development Model
The Cosmiconfluence Development Model forms the theoretical and conceptual core of the Framework.
At the center are three Foundational Development Capacities:
-
Individual Learning Methodology
-
Analytical, Structured and Solution-Oriented Thinking and Processing
-
Adaptive Capacity for Action
These three Foundational Development Capacities describe foundational developmental functions that can become relevant across different life, learning, relationship, family, educational, professional and practice contexts.
Individual Learning Methodology describes how people can perceive, process and reflect upon their own experiences, feedback, learning processes and developmental trajectories and use them for further development.
Analytical, Structured and Solution-Oriented Thinking and Processing describes how people can perceive information, experiences, demands and situations in a differentiated way, organize, analyze and contextualize them, recognize connections and derive orientation, conclusions or possible solutions.
Adaptive Capacity for Action describes how people can translate perception, reflection, insights and orientation into concrete, context-appropriate and development-oriented action, and adapt their approach to changing conditions.
In simplified terms, the Development Model asks:
-
How is learning developed?
-
How are understanding, analysis and processing developed?
-
How is action prepared, implemented and adapted?
The Six Core Competency Domains
Within the Cosmiconfluence Framework, the three Foundational Development Capacities become visible in different developmental fields.
These developmental fields are referred to as Core Competency Domains.
The six Core Competency Domains are:
-
Emotional Development
-
Social Competence
-
Cognitive Processing
-
Resilience and Self-Efficacy
-
Self-Care and Balance
-
Values, Responsibility, and Goal Orientation
The Core Competency Domains are not isolated competency lists. They describe central developmental, practice, application, observation and evaluation fields within which the three Foundational Development Capacities can become practically visible and further developable.
While the Foundational Development Capacities describe the central developmental focus of the model, the Core Competency Domains show in which developmental fields this focus can become visible in everyday life, Programs, Development Spaces, Pilot Projects and research contexts.
Programs, Development Spaces and Pilot Projects
Cosmiconfluence becomes practically accessible through Programs, Development Spaces, methods and Pilot Projects.
Programs and Development Spaces translate the Cosmiconfluence Development Model into different roles, target groups, Fields of Application and Contexts.
They create structured spaces in which developmental processes can take place, be reflected upon, supported, observed, evaluated and further developed.
Phoenix is an Individual Program and a Development Space within the Cosmiconfluence Framework.
Additional Programs or Development Spaces may be developed depending on target group, role, Field of Application, Context and developmental need.
Pilot Projects have a particular function within the Cosmiconfluence System. They connect application, observation, evaluation, feedback and continuous development under real-world conditions.
In this way, Cosmiconfluence does not remain static. It can be further developed in a controlled manner on the basis of application experiences, professional feedback, Pilot Projects, evaluations and research findings.
Scientific Connectivity
Cosmiconfluence has Scientific Connectivity with different scientific perspectives.
These include, among others:
-
developmental psychology,
-
learning research,
-
neuroplasticity,
-
metacognition,
-
self-regulation research,
-
competency development,
-
resilience research,
-
educational research,
-
action and decision-making research,
-
evaluation research,
-
and further development-related, learning-related, reflection-related and practice-oriented research fields.
These scientific perspectives serve as professional points of connection and orientation.
Cosmiconfluence is not understood as the direct adoption of a single theory. Rather, the Framework is understood as an independent Research, Development and Practice Architecture with interdisciplinary Scientific Connectivity.
The aim is to describe development-related processes in a way that makes them professionally traceable, practically accessible, observable, evaluable and capable of continuous development.
Non-Diagnostic and Non-Therapeutic Positioning
Cosmiconfluence is not a diagnostic, therapeutic or clinical treatment model.
The Framework, its Programs, Development Spaces, methods, Pilot Projects and research structures serve the description, support, observation, investigation, evaluation and continuous development of development-related processes.
Cosmiconfluence is not intended to:
-
diagnose individuals,
-
assign people to fixed categories,
-
treat clinical disorders,
-
replace psychotherapeutic, psychiatric, medical or clinical treatment,
-
claim guaranteed effects,
-
or explain complex individual, family-related or societal problems monocausally.
In acute crises, severe psychological distress or clinically relevant symptoms, professional psychotherapeutic, psychiatric, medical or clinical support is required.
Cosmiconfluence remains development-oriented, preventive, reflection-supporting, practice-oriented, research-connected and non-diagnostic in its orientation.
